AFA-CWA Gets Some Of Its Key Priorities Into Senate FAA Reauthorization Bill
By Doug Cunningham
The Association of Flight Attendants- CWA says as the FAA Reauthorization bill is marked up in the U.S. Senate, it’s vital that the minimum rest periods for flight attendants be included in the bill.
The AFA-CWA wants ten hours of rest between shifts, consistent with pilot rules on rest. The flight attendant’s union praised Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Washington) for standing up for including that rest period in the Senate FAA bill.
Several other flight attendant union priorities are also in the Senate FAA bill. They include banning voice calls on planes, improved lithium ion battery regulations, addressing toxic fumes in airline cabins and nursing rooms in airports.
