A coalition of building trades unions – including IBEW, Ironworkers, Laborers, Painters and Allied Trades, Bricklayers, Carpenters, Operating Engineers and Cement Masons – has come together in the new Dakota Construction Careers Campaign. The coalition is meeting with workers this month to educate and engage them about the positive career climate in South Dakota. The unions are looking for workers eager to learn a trade and start a new career. South Dakota has a low unemployment rate and there’s a strong demand for skilled construction labor. Workers who join the Dakota Construction Careers Campaign will be able to train and develop specific skill-sets relevant to their careers without racking up education/training debt. The unions are offering apprenticeship programs that lead to well-paid construction careers. The building trades unions are hosting open houses for workers interested in construction careers in Pierre, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Sioux Falls South Dakota.
