Low-wage federal workers employed through contractors at the Smithsonian Museum and other Washington buildings protested against the Republican government shutdown at Republican House Speaker John Boehner’s rally at the World War II Memorial, in Washington, D.C. Wednesday. They chanted “We are all essential”. And they demanded that Republicans let them return to work and earn the daily wages they need to support their families. The workers are shut out of their jobs by the government shutdown and are among the least likely to get back pay after the government shutdown ends.
